2010 Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival Conclusion
Although this spring's unusual weather had the blossoms falling a whole week short of our festivities, an estimated 40,000 people came out to Sakura Sunday and enjoyed a warm, sunny day with more green than we've had in the past. Over 200 people showed up to the Horticulture Center in the early morning for a scenic run/walk in the inaugural Cherry Blossom 5K. Crowds swelled quickly thereafter, perusing souvenir and food vendor tents before settling in the grass to picnic and take in the main stage performances. The welcome return of Tamagawa's taiko drum & dance performances literally provided the rhythm and energy of the day, with their always impressive display appealing to the senses of all festival attendees alike. Demonstrations of martial arts, ikebana, swordsmanship, calligraphy, origami and tea ceremony drew more specialized attention to different areas of the Horticulture Center.

Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia would like to extend its sincere thanks to all who helped make the 2010 Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia a huge success. Sponsors, supporters, performers, vendors, volunteers, partners, guests -- we thank you all for your support this year and hope to see you in the years to come. Domo arigato gozaimashita!
