2009 Cherry Blossom Festival Internship

The Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia, a non-profit organization, seeks a Program Intern for late January–April, 2009. The candidate should have an interest in or familiarity with Japan and Japanese culture. Ability to speak Japanese is helpful, but not required. A valid driver’s license is required.

The intern’s work will focus on the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia project:

Marketing/Public Relations/Media
  • Manage festival-related general inquiries
  • Participate in publicity street-team activities
  • Distribute collateral materials to local organizations, hotels, etc.
  • Assist with preparation of press releases

Fundraising
  • Prepare Festival information packets for prospective sponsors
  • Maintain database of corporate and individual donations

Other
  • Assist with planning and preparation for other JASGP events/activities
  • Assist with day-to-day JASGP operations, including administrative support, etc.
  • Assist with online content including blogging and social networking

This position is an unpaid internship, up to 20–24 hours per week. Compensation for lunch will be provided.
