OBON is a timely expression of indebtedness to family
members and friends who have departed and is a joyful
reflection of gratitude.
Starting at 5 p.m., ethnic food booths and craft tables will
be available, and the Temple's meditation garden will
be open until 6:30 p.m.
From 6 to 6:45 p.m., there will be a short mini-lecture on
Buddhism in the Temple with Rev. Naoki Kono, the resident
minister.
The folk dancing will begin at 7 p.m., and, as usual, the
ever-popular audience participation will be encouraged.
The public is invited to come and enjoy the festival, where
local dancers, as well as those from the greater Delaware
Valley, North Jersey, New York and Washington, D.C. will
perform.
Among the performers will be the Dharma School Taiko Group,
the Hoh Daiko Drummers, the Nen Daiko Drummers from
Washington, D.C., and the Soh Daiko Drummers from New York.
An OBON memorial service will also be held at 11 a.m.
Sunday. The public is invited to attend.
